A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Dublin last night.

A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Dublin last night.

At around 9.30pm, two gardaí noticed two men jump from a car and enter an off-licence on the Ninth Lock Road in Clondalkin.

The two men, who were believed to have been armed with a firearm, threatened staff and took cash from the till.

The firearm was also pointed at the officers as they entered the premises, but it later turned out to be an imitation.

One man was apprehended at the scene and gardaí recovered the imitation firearm along with a screwdriver and the stolen cash.

The man arrested at the scene, who is believed to be in his 30s, is being held at Clondalkin Garda station.
