Former politician held in Cork in alleged conspiracy to murder three people

A man who is believed to be a former politician is being held by gardaí in Cork on suspicion of conspiracy to kill. He is accused of conspiring to murder a garda, a revenue official and an accountant.

The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested yesterday morning.
