Twitter fanatics name daughter 'Hashtag'

A couple have named their newborn baby girl "Hashtag".

The parents have reportedly given their daughter the moniker due to their love of social networking site Twitter, which encourages users to write the # symbol, called a hashtag, to mark keywords or topics in a tweet.

One of the parents – who posted a picture on Facebook, stating the little one's name was inspired by Twitter – said: "Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 oclock last nite. She weys 8pounds and I luv her so much. (sic)"

This comes after a couple from Israel last year named their newborn child "Like" after a popular feature on Facebook, which enables users to give their approval to other members' status updates, photos and comments.
