Protestors call on FG to keep vows on abortion

More than 3,000 people took to the streets of Castlebar today, calling on the Taoiseach Enda Kenny to stick to Fine Gael's pre-election promises on abortion.

Organisers of the event have said they wanted to send a clear message to the Government to reject any attempts to legalise abortion in Ireland.

The rally was organised in anticipation of the recommendations from the expert group which was formed earlier this year in response to the European Court's ruling on Ireland's abortion laws.
