Charity offers €12k reward in prison officer murder probe

Independent charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 (€12,400) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of David Black.

The organisation operates a freephone number so people can give information anonymously.

PSNI Assistant Chief Constable for Crime Operations Drew Harris said: “Detectives are conducting an extensive investigation into David Black’s murder.

“A key element of this investigation will be information which is provided by members of our community. If the reward encourages some individuals to come forward, this will be of benefit to all our efforts as we work to secure convictions against Mr Black’s killers.”

The Crimestoppers reward is for information given to the charity’s 0800 555 111 number that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the crime.

Roger Critchell, director of operations for Crimestoppers, said: “This heinous crime has sent shockwaves through communities across Northern Ireland and left a family without their father.

“I am urging anyone with information about this crime, no matter how small that information may be, to contact Crimestoppers anonymously – we don’t want to know who you are, only what you know.”

Anyone with information is asked to use the confidential telephone line or the secure online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
