Dunne phone 'received message from accused's phone', court hears

Eamonn Dunne’s phone received pictures of a naked woman from the phone of a man allegedly involved in an attempted cash-in-transit van raid, a jury has heard.

Joseph Warren (aged 30) was allegedly staking out Chubb Security base in Stillorgan, when two multi-media messages that had been received on his phone a week previously were forwarded to Dunne’s phone.

The jury heard that the images, one depicting the genitals of an unknown woman and the second, showing a woman standing in her underwear with a phone in her hand, looking into the camera, had the following text message attached: “That will wake wee up, save that for ye x.”

Sarah Skedd, a garda phone analyst told Sean Guerin BL, prosecuting, that phone records show that Mr Warren’s phone was routing off a phone cell in Sandyford when the messages were sent from his phone to Dunne’s at 7.58am and 8am on November 2, 2007.

Mr Warren of Belclare Crescent, Ballymun, has pleaded not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to conspiring to steal cash from Chubb Ireland at Tesco supermarket on the Shackleton Road in Celbridge on November 2, 2007.

Ms Skedd told Mr Guerin that she analysed the phone records of Mr Warren, Mr Dunne, Alan and Wayne Bradley, Michael Ryan and Jeffrey Morrow to ascertain the “volume of traffic” between the numbers on the morning of November 2 and to identify the cell sites through which the calls and text messages were routed.

She said there was a total of 193 phone calls and text messages between the six phones on the morning of November 2, 2007 from 5.56am to 9.54am.

The jury heard that the men’s phones registered off phone cells from Clonsilla, Mulhuddart, Ballymun, Sandyford, Tallaght, Lucan, Leixlip, Maynooth and Cellbridge that morning.

Ms Skedd said a number saved as “Bucko” was found in the phonebooks of Mr Warren’s and Mr Ryan’s phones.

She said there were 27 calls or missed calls on November 2, 2007 between this number and Mr Warren’s phone, Alan Bradley’s phone and Mr Morrow’s phone between just after 6.30am and minutes before the six men were arrested at about 9.50am.

Ms Skedd told the jury that 16 calls were made from “Bucko’s” phone to Mr Warren’s and Alan Bradley’s phone between 10.08 and 10.24am that morning after the men had been arrested. One call was to Mr Warren’s phone and the other 15 were to Mr Bradley’s.

The witness confirmed that none of these calls were answered.

Ms Skedd told Mr Guerin that in the ten minutes before all six men were arrested there were four phone calls between Mr Warren’s and Alan Bradley’s phones, three calls between Mr Warren’s and Mr Morrow’s phones, and the final call in the phone traffic occurred between Mr Warren’s and Dunne’s phone.

The trial continues before Judge Patrick McCartan and a jury of a jury of seven men and four women.

Ms Skedd said Alan Bradley’s phone made 11 calls to Mr Warren’s phone, three of which went to voicemail and Mr Warren’s phone called Alan Bradley’s phone 15 times.

Mr Warren’s phone rang Mr Morrow’s number once and Mr Warren’s phone got eight calls from Mr Morrow.

Ms Skedd said Mr Warren’s phone received one call from Michael Ryan’s number and there was no further contact between the two phones. The court had previously heard that Mr Warren and Mr Ryan were travelling together in the same car that morning.

There were three calls from Eamonn Dunne’s phone to Mr Warren’s number and 14 calls from Mr Warren’s number to Dunne’s phone.

There was no contact between Mr Warren’s and Wayne Bradley’s phones on the morning of the alleged raid.
