Deadline given to HSE and consultant dispute

A long-lasting dispute between hospital consultants and the HSE could be over by Sunday night.

It comes after a meeting between the consultants body, the HSE and the Secretary General of the Department of Health today.

Yesterday, the Health Minister expressed serious concern that talks were not proceeding at the LRC - but the Irish Hospital Consultants Association agreed to enter talks this evening.

A deadline of Sunday night has been imposed - before the matter will go to the Labour Court.
