Gardaí appeal for information after altercation with youths leaves man dead
Gardaí are investigating the death of a 53-year-old man in Drogheda today.
The man was involved in an altercation with a number of youths last Thursday.
On Sunday he was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital for treatment to a head injury - he died at the Dublin hospital this afternoon.
A post mortem will be carried out at the City Morgue tomorrow.
In the meantime, Gardaí have issued an appeal for information about the altercation between the dead man and the group of youths at the junction of Bessexwell Lane and Shop Street in Drogheda at about 2.30pm last Thursday.
