A man and a woman were tied up during an aggravated burglary at a house in Bray, Co Wicklow in the early hours of this morning, gardaí said.

A man and a woman were tied up during an aggravated burglary at a house in Bray, Co Wicklow in the early hours of this morning, gardaí said.

Three armed and masked men carried out the raid between 2.30am and 3.30am this morning.

Armed with a hatchet and crowbars, the men broke into the house at Rocky Valley in Bray and tied up the couple, both of whom were assaulted.

They made off with a number of items including paintings and jewellery.

The raiders wore balaclavas and gloves and spoke with Dublin accents. Two are described as being between 5’ 10” and 6’ tall, while the third was around 6'5".

Gardaí at Bray are anxious to speak to anyone who saw anything unusual in the area at the time of the incident - particularly anyone who may have seen a silver Fiat Punto and a silver Nissan Primera.
