Stephen Hester, the chief executive of Ulster Bank and NatWest owner RBS, tonight apologised for technical hitches which left customers unable to pay bills or access their money.

Twenty Ulster Bank Branches open tomorrow from 10m to 1pm, and updates are being posted on the bank's website.
