The Immigrant Council of Ireland says a consultation process to be launched by the government into prostitution is a 'welcome first step' to protecting people from human trafficking.

It follows an announcement last night by Justice Minister Alan Shatter, that he's reviewing existing legislation on the issue because of the changing nature of prostitution in Ireland.
