Immigrant Council welcome government consultation process on prostitution
The Immigrant Council of Ireland says a consultation process to be launched by the government into prostitution is a 'welcome first step' to protecting people from human trafficking.
It follows an announcement last night by Justice Minister Alan Shatter, that he's reviewing existing legislation on the issue because of the changing nature of prostitution in Ireland.
Minister Shatter said it used to be mainly street-based, but has become more highly organised and easily facilitated by the internet and mobile phones.
