Army makes safe a number of viable devices in Limerick
An Army bomb disposal team has made safe a number of suspected viable explosive devices in Limerick.
The team was deployed to the Ballysimon area of Limerick this afternoon to deal with a number of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Gardaí in Limerick had called out the team to an overgrown area near a residential estate in the Ballysimon area of Limerick and the team arrived at 3.50pm.
The scene was cordoned off and a number of properties had to be evacuated before a number of devices were made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion.
The scene was declared safe at 5.50pm.
The devices have been removed for further examination and will be handed over to the Gardaí.
