One person has been rushed to Cork University Hospital following reports of an explosion in the past hour at the Irish Oxygen plant in Cork.

One person has been rushed to Cork University Hospital following reports of an explosion in the past hour at the Irish Oxygen plant in Cork.

Emergency services are en route to the Waterfall plant with four units of the city and county fire brigades responding along with three ambulances.

The explosion was heard as far away as Bishopstown shortly after 2.15pm and the road around the plant has been closed off by gardaí as a precaution.
