Gilmore to meet Hague in London

Foreign Affairs Minister Eamon Gilmore will travel to London later today for a meeting with his British counterpart.

The Tánaiste will hold talks with British Foreign Secretary William Hague, attend a number of functions organised by Enterprise Ireland and meet with new London-based members of the Global Irish Network.

Mr Gilmore said this is one of a series of meetings where he will make the case for a deal on bank debt.

"One year on from the visit of Queen Elizabeth II, British-Irish relations have never been stronger," he said.

"My talks with William Hague will focus on how we can maximise the benefits - economically and politically - of our newly-strengthened relationship."

EU developments, restoring stability to the eurozone and the priorities for Ireland's presidency of the EU in the first half of next year will also be on the agenda, as well as UN and European action on Syria ahead of the forthcoming meeting of EU foreign ministers."

Elsewhere, events organised by Enterprise Ireland will be for Irish and British companies involved in the financing and provision of green and renewable energy.
