Stephen Carroll widow Kate 'doesn't allow killers into thoughts'

Kate Carroll, whose husband was murdered three years ago in the North, has said she does not let herself think about his killers.

PSNI Constable Stephen Carroll was shot dead as he answered a 999 call in Craigavon in 2009.

Yesterday, dissident republicans Brendan McConville and John Paul Wootton were given minimum sentences of 25 and 14 years respectively for his killing.

Kate Carroll has said that, although she was disappointed at John Wootton's sentence - which she felt was not severe enough - she does not allow her husband's killers to enter her thoughts.

"I have absolutely no feelings at all about them. I don't give them space in my head...If I sit worrying about them, I feel it will eat at me like a cancer, so I just don't do it," she said.
