Reilly wants hospitals to stop treating patients on trolleys

The Health Minister Dr James Reilly has said he wants the use of trollies to treat patients in corridors phased out by the end of the year.

It comes as the Health Information and Quality Authority said it is "wholly unacceptable" for patients to be treated on trolleys in hospital corridors.

The watchdog published a report today after its inquiry into services at Dublin's Tallaght Hospital, where a man died while awaiting admission.

Dr Reilly said he will be forwarding a copy of the report to every hospital chief executive and chairperson in the country.
