Irish man shot dead in US

An Irish man has been shot dead at a restaurant in which he was working in Florida.

Tom Walsh (aged 43), originally from Templemore in Co. Tipperary, was killed at the Main Street Grill in DeLand in the north of the state on Saturday night.

His body was found by an employee after what police believe may have been an attempted robbery.

Mr. Walsh, who had one daughter, moved to Florida in 1995.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said Mr Walsh’s family in Ireland had not requested consular assistance.
