Jury awards €60,000 to man assaulted by gardaí

A Dublin man who alleged he was wrongfully assaulted by gardaí after they were called to deal with an alleged disturbance involving two other people outside a licenced premises has today been awarded €60,000 damages by a High Court jury.

A Dublin man who alleged he was wrongfully assaulted by gardaí after they were called to deal with an alleged disturbance involving two other people outside a licenced premises has today been awarded €60,000 damages by a High Court jury.

The jury, before Mr Justice Eamonn DeValera, awarded the damages to Mr Kevin Nolan (aged 56), Foxhill Avenue, Baldoyle, Co Dublin against the Garda Commissioner, the Minister for Justice and the State.
