A Dublin man who alleged he was wrongfully assaulted by gardaí after they were called to deal with an alleged disturbance involving two other people outside a licenced premises has today been awarded €60,000 damages by a High Court jury.

A man who was caught transporting cannabis valued at almost €500,000 after a garda spotted him driving without a seatbelt and talking on his mobile phone has been jailed for six years.
