Waste company announces 50 Dublin jobs
Greyhound Recycling and Recovery is to hire 50 new staff in Dublin in the coming months, the company has announced.
It is part of an expansion which has already seen 50 people taken on to work in the company's IT, customer care, credit control and marketing departments.
These positions will be advertised and the company will also repeat the Jobs Open Days that have been hugely successful in attracting qualified graduates and experienced employees to the company.
“The creation of these new jobs is directly related to our decision to acquire the bin collection services in Dublin city and south county Dublin and to introduce operational efficiencies which will save the councils and the Government €16m per annum,” said Michael Buckley, joint founder and CEO of Greyhound Recycling and Recovery.
“Dublin City Council will save €10m a year and South Dublin County Council is saving €6m a year as a result of Greyhound Recycling and Recovery’s decision to acquire their bin collection services.
“We have developed and sourced the most efficient technologies and software from our experience of operating our business across 16 countries worldwide and applied that to our operations in the household market in Dublin.
“Our ability to deliver these efficiencies is the reason why we are the most competitively priced waste operator in Ireland. Householders in Dublin city and south county Dublin were facing a dramatic hike in bin charges were it not for the fact that we acquired each business.”
The Clondalkin-based company recently took on responsibility for bin collections in Dublin city and South County Dublin.
In a statement today, Greyhound defended its policy of using a pre-paid model for its service, saying its operating in a very competitive marketplace.
After February 16, the company will not collect bins from Dublin CITY customers unless they have paid an annual service charge, or signed up to pay by instalments.
