Search resumes for Cork fishermen

The search for five fishermen missing feared drowned off West Cork has resumed this morning.

Only one crew-member from the Tit Bonhomme is thought to have survived the trawler's sinking at the entrance to its home port of Union Hall on Sunday.

An extensive coast line search will be carried out today, in weather conditions broadly similar to yesterday.

The families of the missing men have been expressing their gratitude to the volunteers who will turn out for a third day, in the hope of recovering the bodies of the five men - two Irish, and three Egyptian.

Efforts will again be made to dive to the wreck of the Tit Bonhomme, a task so far deemed too risky because of a significant sea swell in the area.

While the focus now is on the recovery of the missing men, attention will soon turn to the official investigation into how this tragedy happened.
