A 26-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of rugby player Shane Geoghegan in Limerick in 2008.

A 26-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of rugby player Shane Geoghegan in Limerick in 2008.

Barry Doyle of Portland Row in Dublin is charged with murdering the 28-year-old Garryowen player on November 9, 2008 at Clonmore, Kilteragh, Dooradoyle.

A jury of nine men and three women has been sworn in to hear the five-week trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.

However, Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan told the jurors that a legal issue had arisen that must be dealt with in their absence.

He told them to return on Monday, January 30.
