INMO expresses concern about bed closures at Tallaght Hospital

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has today expressed its concern that Tallaght Hospital plans to close 31 acute beds before the end of the month.

A total of 31 beds have already been closed since December 29.

The INMO said that it has not been consulted by the hospital on the reduction of the number of beds.

It claimed that such a reduction in bed capacity will have a huge impact on waiting times in the Emergency Department, elective procedures and waiting lists.

This will result in patients presenting, in greater numbers, to other hospitals such as St James' and Naas General which are already overstretched, the organisation said.
