Teen killed in Kilkenny road accident

One teenager has been killed and two others injured in a single-vehicle car crash in Co Kilkenny.

The 19-year-old, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene on the N9 about 3km (1.9 miles) outside Mullinavat.

Two other occupants, aged 19 and 20, were taken to Waterford Regional Hospital for treatment.

The road has been closed pending a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.

Witnesses to the accident, which happened at 1.20pm, are asked to contact the Gardaí in Thomastown.
