Councillors reject Clontarf flood defence plans
Dublin city councillors have voted to reject controversial flood defence proposals for Clontarf.
The decision comes after a hard-fought campaign against the plans by residents, businesses and local representatives.
Thousands of people held protests in the area in recent weeks in opposition to the proposal to construct a flood defence wall along the Clontarf promenade which would have reached 7' in places.
Planners will now go back to the drawing board and come up with a fresh plan for flood defences in the area.
