Payment of mortage interest supplement to be deferred

Householders having trouble with their mortgages will be forced to wait before qualifying for State assistance under changes to the Mortage Interest Supplment scheme announced today.

Payments for new applicants to the scheme will be deferred for 12 months going forward while the person and their lender engage with the mortgage arrears resolution process.
