Taoiseach to give 'State of the Nation' TV speech on Sunday night

A spokesperson for the Taoiseach has confirmed that Enda Kenny will make his State of the Nation address this Sunday night, at 9.30pm.

The broadcast comes just a day before the new Government unveils the first part of one of the harshest Budgets in the country's history.

The Budget for 2012 will be announced in the Dáil over two days by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin, and the Minister for Finance Michael Noonan.

Minister Noonan will detail taxation changes, while Minister Howlin will outline cuts in public spending.
