President-elect Higgins to visit Áras

The President-elect Michael D Higgins is set to visit his new home in the Phoneix Park later today.

The former Labour Minister, who received more than one million votes in last week's election, will meet the out-going President Mary McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin.

Both dignitaries are due to hold a private lunch with their families this afternoon.
