Motorists driving from Galway to Dublin tonight are being advised to take alternative routes following a multi-car crash on the M6.

Heavy rain has significantly disrupted transport this evening, particularly in the Leinster region.

Six people, including three children, died in series of motorway crashes, British police said today.
