Nurses at Limerick hospital consider further strike action

Nurses at Limerick's Mid Western Regional Hospital are said to be considering taking further industrial action after 11 hours of talks with management broke down last night.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation and SIPTU blamed management for the impasse saying they refused all options put to them by nurses.
Some of these options included redeploying an extra nurse on 24-hour duty in the Emergency Department from anywhere in the Mid West region, and refusing to use the 100-day care beds on a temporary basis to relieve pressure.
Nurses will meet at midday today to decide whether to escalate their industrial action.
They have already held two four-hour work stoppages during the past month.
