Dublin conference to discuss issue of suicide

A major conference on suicide prevention is taking place in Dublin today.

President Mary McAleese will open the event which is being hosted by Console, the charity for those bereaved by suicide, at the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham.

It's one of a range of activities taking place to mark Suicide Awareness Week In Ireland.

More than 10 people take their own lives here every week.
