Union scheme to help Australia-bound tradespeople

A union in Ireland is linking up with their Australian counterparts to help people with trades get started Down Under, it has been reported.

Electricians, plumbers and other specialists can need different licences before they can start earning money in Australia.

The Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union (TEEU) has set up a training scheme so that Irish workers can get all the documents they need before they leave home, according to the Irish Times.

It is being co-ordinated with the Electrical Trades Union in Australia, and union officials say they are also looking at the possibility of setting up a similar scheme with Canada.
