Body found in Dublin's Royal Canal

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 22-year-old man this morning.

Gardaí at Fitzgibbon St and emergency services were called to an incident at approximately 6.30am this morning at the Royal Canal, Ballybough Bridge, Dublin 1 where it is believed the man fell into the canal.

The man was taken from the water and subsequently removed to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
