Gardaí appeal for witnesses after Dublin drowning
Gardaí are renewing an appeal for witnesses to a drowning in Dublin last weekend.
A 35-year-old man died after falling into the river Liffey in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Aiden Mullen from Co Tyrone had been at Croke Park last Saturday, after which he was socialising with friends and family members at a bar on Burgh Quay in Dublin city centre.
Shortly after 3.30am on Sunday morning, the group was waiting to get taxis home when Aiden Mullen was seen falling over the wall of the river Liffey.
His brother and three passers-by dived into the water in an effort to save him, while five units of the Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.
Four people were brought to safety and the body of Aiden Mullen was recovered a short time later.
Investigating officers say a number of witnesses have come forward, but they would like anyone who saw the incident unfold and who has yet to make contact with gardaí - or anyone with other information - to call Pearse Street garda station on (01) 666-9000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
