Landlords fined for failing to register properties
Three landlords from counties Wexford, Cavan and Donegal have been convicted for failing to register their tenancies with the Private Residential Tenancies Board. (PRTB).
The three were each fined €500 by the local district courts and ordered to pay legal costs of €1,500 for failing to register their tenancies, despite repeated warnings to do so.
One of the landlords' convictions was secured with the help of a person living near him who reported the landlord and gave evidence against him, the PTRB said in a statement.
The other two came to the attention of the PRTB through data exchange with the Rent Supplement Section of the Department of Social Protection.
