EBS to raise mortgage interest rate

Some mortgage holders are to be hit with an interest rate hike after the EBS, which will soon be merged with AIB, has announced it is increasing its Standard Variable Rate mortgages.

The 0.25% rise, which will see the SVR increase to 4.8%, will come into effect from August 1.
