Govt announces 1,000 re-training places for unemployed

The Minister for Education Ruairí Quinn has said it is "regrettable" that the there is not a Post Leaving Cert place for everyone in the country who wants one.

The Government today announced 1,000 new PLC places for unemployed people.

They are being funded by departmental savings and through an additional €2m from the Exchequer.

Mrí Quinn said the courses will help people to re-train and upskill.
