Complaints to Children's Ombudsman up by 65%
The number of complaints to the Childrens' Ombudsman has gone up by 65% since 2008.
The Annual Report of the Ombudsman for Children is being launched in Dublin this morning at the end of its first full term of office.
Last year the Ombudsman dealt with 1,223 complaints in the areas of childrens' education, health, justice and housing.
"By and large the people who complain to us are parents of children, or immediate or extended family members which represents almost 78% of all our complaints," said Childrens' Ombudsman Emily Logan.
"The issues that have been coming up, not surprisingly when you are dealing with children, are in the main health and education, and we get a variety of complaints from parents in that regard."
