Gardaí say they have dismantled a significant drug trafficking operation in north Wicklow.

Gardaí say they have dismantled a significant drug trafficking operation in north Wicklow.

They have arrested 20 people in the last seven days as part of a major crackdown on a heroin and cannabis ring.

This major operation in Bray in Co Wicklow began nine months ago but stepped up a gear in the past seven days.

Officers from the National Drugs Unit and local gardaí carried out a number of searches and arrested a total of 20 people, described as "significant targets".

Drugs and drug-dealing paraphernalia was also seized.

Gardaí plan to bring more than 50 charges against those arrested.
