McAleese to honour CCI volunteers
The Chernobyl Children's International organisation has, during the past 25 years, assisted over one million children and adults since the Chernobyl catastrophe, in a variety of ways including funding thousands of medical interventions.
Today, the CCI organisation, along with the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, will honour its key volunteers from the past 25 years at a ceremony in Farmleigh today.
Founder and CEO of CCI, Adi Roche said the contribution made by Ireland over the years has been incredible: "We will be celebrating later today with our President the fact that Ireland has delivered €90m worth of aid, had 21,000 children here with loving families over the last 25 years.
"We have 5,000 volunteers on our books; that is extraordinary."
