MI5 had no role to play in Derry murder, family told
The family of a man murdered by the Real IRA in Derry have been told the MI5 did not play a role in his death.
Kieran Doherty was found bound and shot on a country road on the outskirts of the city last year.
Before his death, the father-of-one told a local newspaper that M15 had tried to recruit him.
An independent report carried out by a senior government advisor has that found no inappropriate or improper action took place.
Kieran Doherty's uncle Vincent Coyle said the family is disappointed at the findings.
"The family are feeling that we didn't have a full and frank report, but in saying that it's just another stop on a road," he said.
"All we can do really is fight Lord Carlisle for his interest in the case."
