Fianna Fáil apologises to TV3 in 'censorship' controversy

Fianna Fáil has apologised to TV3 for suggesting the station capitulated to demands from Fine Gael not to refer to the issue of Enda Kenny's teachers pension during an interview last weekend.

Fianna Fáil has apologised to TV3 for suggesting the station capitulated to demands from Fine Gael not to refer to the issue of Enda Kenny's teachers pension during an interview last weekend.

In a statement, the party said it had accepted an assurance that not only had the station not been asked to avoid questions on the topic, they would not under any circumstances have agreed to such preconditions.

Earlier this week, Newstalk 106-108FM was embroiled in a similar argument with Fianna Fáil when the party suggested that presenter Chris Donoghue had agreed to Fine Gael requests that Mr Kenny's teaching pension not be mentioned during his interview with the party leader.

Newstalk has insisted that no such request was made.
