Two million Census forms printed and ready

Two million forms have been printed for Census 2011, which is taking place on the night of April 10.

The forms have been packed into crates which will leave the Central Statistics Office warehouse in Swords in Dublin this week.

They'll be sent to the 440 Census Field Supervisors nationwide and from there they will be distributed to the Census enumerators who will begin calling to homes across the country on March 11.

Each form will then be collected after April 10.

The Census - which is carried out every five years - is a detailed count of every person living in Ireland on a particular date.

“Producing and distributing two million copies of the Census form is a massive logistical operation which takes the CSO approximately one year to complete," said Gerry Walker, Senior Statistician with the CSO.
