ICTU election document calls for focus on job creation

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions is today launching a document outlining the key priorities it wants parties contesting the election to address.

The report, 'A Better, Fairer Way to Recovery', calls on the political parties to make job creation and wage protection their main focus if they take power.

"For us and I think for the broad mass of people the focus of this election is bringing about some form of change in which we can begin to see the issues that are really beginning to effect people on a day-to-day basis, begin to see some sort of strategy put in place for tacking them, and the key one there is jobs," said Congress spokesperson Macdara Doyle.

"You will not have any recovery in this country, no matter how healthy your banks may be, until the issue of job creation is addressed in a serious, joined-up fashion."
