A 50-year-old soldier has died following a shooting incident at Government Buildings in Dublin.

A 50-year-old soldier has died following a shooting incident at Government Buildings in Dublin.

The incident happened in the military police quarters of the complex on Merrion Street at at around 11.30pm last night.

Gardaí and Military Police have launched two investigations, but the corporal's death is not being treated as suspicious.

Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Sean McCann has extended his deepest sympathies to the family of the dead man, who was from Dublin.
