Galway residents asked to conserve water

Householders in Galway have been asked not to leave taps running in an effort to relive pressure on water supplies.

Galway City Council has advised of continuing disruption to the water supply along with low water pressure in the west side of the City due to exceptionally high demand on supply from Clifton Hill reservoir.

Water Service crews are working to restore sufficient pressure for the water supply.

The council has asked for the public’s cooperation in conserving water use (including not allowing taps to run continuously), saying this would "greatly assist in allowing water levels to return to normal".

Galway City Council Crews are also currently working on repairing leaks in various parts of the city.

The public is asked to notify City Council on 091 536 400 if they come across any major leaks.
