Garda Commissioner condemns speed-van arson attack

The Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy has condemned this morning’s arson attack on a mobile speed van in Co Louth.

The GoSafe van was completely destroyed in the attack which happened as it carried out a traffic survey on the Dundalk to Carrickmacross road at around 5am.

The driver was uninjured in the attack.

The Garda Commissioner has described it as an "outrageous and reckless" attack which could have had grave and tragic consequences.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
