Second man charged in connection with fatal attack
A second man was charged this evening over an assault on a Polish national, who died after he was attacked in Coolock, in Dublin last month.
Lukasz Rzeszutko (aged 27), who had been on his way to work at a fish processing plant, was attacked at the Newtown Industrial Estate in Coolock, north Dublin in the early hours of October 2 last.
He was found on a road in the Newtown Industrial Estate in Coolock, at around 5am.
He had sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Beaumont hospital but died two days later.
Last month, 20-year-old Edward Byrne, from Coolock but with an address at a YMCA hostel in Dublin 8, was charged with assault causing harm to Mr Rzeszutko.
Today a second man was brought before a late sitting of Dublin District Court in connection with the fatal attack.
The defendant, Martin Morgan (aged 20), with an address at Tonlegee Road, in Raheny, in Dublin, was also charged with assault causing harm to Mr Rzeszutko.
Detective Sergeant Edward Carroll told the court that the accused had nothing to say in reply to caution when he was arrested at 3.35pm today.
The court heard that Mr Morgan was a man of “limited mean” and bail in his own bond of €500 was set.
Conditions were also attached to his bail compelling him to obey a 8pm to 8am curfew, to sign on daily at Coolock Garda station, to abstain from alcohol and to stay away from three locations in north Dublin: Darndale, the Memorial Park in Coolock and the Northside Shopping Centre.
The court heard that “a more serious charge” could follow.
The accused, who was wearing a black tracksuit and remained silent during the case, was remanded to appear again on December 10 next.
