Gardaí investigate blaze at Wexford hotel

An investigation is underway into a fire at the site of former hotel in New Ross, Co. Wexford.

Gardaí and the fire service were alerted to the blaze at the Royal Hotel on North Street in New Ross just after 6pm yesterday evening.

It took four units of the fire brigade a number of hours bring the blaze under control.

Garda forensic experts will today examine the ruins of the building to try to determine how the fire started.

Just last month plans were unveiled for the complete re-development of the dilapidated Royal Hotel.
