A top healthcare firm in Mayo is to create up to 250 new jobs.

Enterprise Minister Batt O'Keefe is expected to announce that US firm Hollister, which makes healthcare products, will create the positions at its Ballina plant.

Hollister has been in Ireland for 35 years and employs 330 people at its manufacturing plant in Ballina.

Today, the Enterprise Minister is expected to announce that the company intends to invest €65m into its plant to create 250 high end manufacturing jobs.

A further 200 jobs will be created during the construction period.

The extension, which is expected to be finished by the end of next year, will boost manufacturing capability in the ostomy and continence care product ranges.
